Washing and care of your MASALA textiles
Our textiles are made from natural materials and handcrafted with care. With proper care, they will last for many years.
General advice
- Wash at 30°C on a gentle cycle
- Turn garments inside out before washing. Kantha products can be advantageously washed in a mesh bag or similar to prevent threads from being damaged.
- Use mild detergent without bleach
- Avoid tumble drying — lay flat to dry in the shade
- Iron on low heat inside out
Silk & sari fabrics
- Hand wash in cold water is recommended
- Use a detergent designed for silk or wool
- Squeeze gently — never wring
- Dry flat on a clean towel
Block print & kantha
- Wash at 30 degrees on a gentle cycle
- Block print tablecloths can be washed at 40 degrees
- Turn garments inside out before washing
- Use mild detergent without bleach
