Sari silk scarves – unique pieces in vintage silk
At MASALA, our hearts beat for Indian craftsmanship, beautiful textiles, and materials with a story. Our sari silk scarves are crafted from traditional vintage saris from India, given new life as colorful and exclusive accessories.
Each scarf is unique. Colors, patterns, and small traces from the sari's former life mean that no two are exactly alike. It is precisely these variations and the history in the fabric that give our sari silk scarves their special character.
Hand-stitched Kantha scarves from recycled sari silk
Many of our silk scarves are sewn using the traditional Kantha technique, where layers of vintage sari are joined with characteristic, dense Kantha running stitches.
The stitches hold the soft silk layers together and at the same time create the vibrant texture that defines Kantha craftsmanship. The result is a light and soft scarf with colors and patterns on both sides – created from textiles that have already had a life.
By reusing existing sari fabrics, we utilize beautiful materials that might otherwise be lost, while allowing traditional Indian craft techniques to live on.
Find your personal silk scarf
Whether you are looking for a narrow silk scarf for everyday wear or a larger silk shawl to drape over your shoulders, you will find various sizes in our collection.
We have divided the scarves by measurements so you can easily find the size that suits you – including our popular Kantha silk scarves in 40 × 190 cm.
Silk feels light and comfortable against the skin and can be worn all year round. Wear the scarf around your neck, over your shoulders, with a simple shirt, or as a colorful element over a jacket or dress.
A scarf with its own story
When you choose a sari silk scarf from MASALA, you are not choosing a mass-produced accessory. You are choosing a handmade unique piece, where vintage textiles, Indian craftsmanship, and new ideas meet.
When a particular scarf is sold, the exact same one usually doesn't return. However, we continuously find new vintage saris and new color combinations in India, so the collection is constantly changing.
